The Show Went On

1998 was our first Professional Season at the DIXIE.  Our schedule was limited and while everyone involved had a lot of theater experience, we were new to this particular project of operating a theater in a small community with limited resources and multiple challenges including many we had never even considered.  Things like a leaky roof (which still bedevils us to this day but is scheduled for repair in 2011), light boards that didn't light due to lightning strikes, where to come up with some seats for our restored but empty facility, all conspired to make the 1998 Season a challenging one.  Then we opened our first show and it immediately became such a rewarding experience for everyone involved that we were hooked and fell in love all over again with our facility, our small town, and the thrill of producing live theater.

The Ghost Light

On any given afternoon, when there are no rehearsals or performances taking place in the main hall, you are likely to find a single, solitary light bulb lighting the stage of the Dixie Theatre.
