The Dixie Theatre
1913 ~ 2011

Bringing live professional theatre to the
Forgotten Coast

DEAR Visitor,

We don't want to wear out our welcome with our email subscribers, but we feel the need to publicize this appeal as widely and as inexpensively as we can.

So, here we are in your email inbox playing the part of Oliver, perhaps, and hoping we can be half as charming and effective.

Our Need

We are desperately seeking accommodations for four nights, from March 21 - 25, 2012, for the songwriters who will be appearing on our stage in The Dixie Does Nashville 9.

We would prefer to be able to house them all together, in perhaps a 5 bedroom house on St. George Island, or even two Townhouses -- such as the ones at 300 Ocean Mile -- with a total of five bedrooms.

This date in March is unfortunately coinciding with Spring Break, making it hard to find accommodations through our very generous usual channels.

If you are, or if you know of any, property owners that might be interested in providing this much needed housing in exchange for tickets, acknowledgment in the form of a Playbill ad, as well as a great tax write off, please let us know.

Dixie Does Nashville - A Little Background

The Dixie Does Nashville is one of our most beloved music series. For what has become one of our most popular yearly events, Universal Music Publishing Nashville brings their finest, most talented writers to the Dixie to perform the hits they wrote for music legends like George Strait, The Dixie Chicks, Kenny Rogers, Rascal Flats, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, to name a few.

This event is the only one on our calendar that is presented solely as a fundraiser for The Dixie Theatre Foundation.  Over the years, the money it has brought in has contributed strongly to the ability of our non-profit foundation to keep the Theatre up and running.  Without this fundraiser, as well as our core group of tireless volunteers, The Dixie Theatre would not be able to keep the lights on and the Theatre running for very long.

      If You Can Help . . .

So, with all that in mind, if you can help us in any way with our dilemma, we would be forever grateful and you would know that you had played a large part in helping to keep the dream of live theatre in Franklin County alive and well at The Dixie Theatre.

        100 Years of Theatre

The Dixie Theatre is celebrating our 100th year in 2012 and 2013.  The theater was built in 1912 and opened in 1913 so we are going to have a two year long celebration of our Centennial.  Please help us celebrate by helping to make sure we are around for another 100 Years.

If you can't help with these accommodations, but would like to take an active part in keeping Live Theatre alive and well here on The Forgotten Coast, there are many other ways you can contribute either time or money to help our worthy cause.  You can see more details on our website.

Thanks for your time, and thanks for your interest in The Dixie Theatre.

        The Ghost Light

On any given afternoon, when there are no rehearsals or performances taking place in the main hall, you are likely to find a single, solitary light bulb lighting the stage of the Dixie Theatre.
